March is Women's History Month, so for My Perfect Ten we're featuring our co-founders, Adair Ilyinsky & Nadine Abramcyk, and highlighting their favorite women-owned brands.
Adair & Nadine opened the first Tenoverten salon in NYC over a decade ago, after realizing the need for a safer salon environment in their neighborhood. They have since expanded into a full range of better-for-you hand & foot care, making the Tenoverten salon experience accessible from the comfort of home.
From the beginning, they've focused on partnering with women-founded brands and collaborating with women creators, artists & athletes and have built a strong support system along the way. Check out Adair & Nadine's top ten list of their favorite women-founded brands.
Adair's List
1) Megababe - I love Katie's humor, style, joie de vivre and ability to tackle personal care issues that have traditionally been taboo. A huge congrats to Katie and the Megababe team for launching in Walmart this past week; what a massive achievement! My favorite Megababe product is the Space Bar and I always have one in my shower.
2) Eden Iowa - While I have never been to Des Moines, I am enamored by Hannah Krause's beautiful apothecary Eden Iowa and have had the pleasure of meeting her when she was visiting NYC. They ship nationwide and I have discovered so many beautiful brands on her site.
3) Kilte - I met Hannah Redfern (another Hannah!) at a pop-up and I quickly became a fan of her lovely knitwear line Kilte. I bought a matching heathered sweater, wrap and scrunchie (I love a full look) and have had to keep myself from wearing them non-stop this winter. Kilte is known for their washable cashmere, which is my next purchase from Hannah.
4) Kimiko - Danielle Vincent is a multi-hyphenate as she's not only our resident eyebrow guru at the Tenoverten salon, but she's also the founder of Tokyo-made Kimiko Beauty. Her eyebrow pencils are the best I've ever used and her brow gel, The Brow Sensei, has won tons of best-of-beauty awards.
5) 14th Night - My hair stylist, Jessics Gillin at Jenna Perry Hair, recommended Negar Mohammadi's 14th Night Hair Elixir and I haven't turned back since. The smell is divine and the bottle looks like some otherworldly magic potion, which it basically is. She recently came out with a nourishing shampoo and conditioner that I can't wait to try.
Nadine's List
6) Nette Candles - I love these clean burning, sustainable candles and I have them scattered throughout my home as I love to have one burning at all times. I'm also a big fan of female founder Carol Pyle who is such an inspiring female entrepreneur.
7) de Buci Baby - This treasure trove of heirloom quality baby gifts makes gift giving to any expectant parent the loveliest experience. The founders are sisters, one of whom is an incredible illustrator and creates custom prints for their sweet teddy bears.
8) High Sport - Alissa created a cult like following with her Kick Pant that is the most comfortable yet chic pant of all time. I wear these so often that they're worth the splurge plus I am obsessed with her knits as well. Everything is so well made and true staples of my closet.
9) Osea - This brand represents the pinnacle of better-for-you beauty for me personally in the marketplace. It doesn't hurt that it's run by 3 generations of female founders that are so passionate about creating efficacious product and sustainability equally. My favorite product is the Anti-Aging Body Balm.
10) Jenny Bird Jewelry - I met Jenny when she threw an event in one of our spaces and she's the most delightful human being. Her jewelry is as effervescent as she is and I love that it's special but they are pieces I can share with my teenage daughter as well.
